Well if you ever fished in Lake St.Clair on the U.S. side, you’ve probably heard of Lakeside Fishing Shop. It’s a great fishing store for all types of tackle and fishing equipment. You can go there and find out the fishing report or you can pick up your fishing license there. Also listed on the side of the wall when you walk in are boats and trailers for sale. It can be kind of crammed in there at times, but that doesn’t bother me from going to my favorite fishing store. Shit, it’s actually right down the street from me.

They carry a wide selection of different plastic worms from major companies such as Berkley, Kalins, and Yamamoto. Perfect for that next big bass that might come out of Lake St. Clair. Lake St. Clair is known for their monster smallmouth bass if you’re not familiar with the lake. I would say “big” smallmouth bass, but I don’t want to confuse you, kind of would be an oxymoron. I’m not sure who the owners are from the store, but everyone is really nice there. This includes the employees that work there and the customers. They might not know every single detail about every lure there, but who in the world really does. Fishing is one big learning process, there’s always something new to learn all the time.

The first time I went there this summer, I ended up purchasing a new Shimano reel. One of the employees was nice enough to put Stren line on the reel when I bought it, one of the cool features they have if you every buy a reel from there at the store. Talked to another fisherman that stopped in there, said to try out the 9 mile tower. The next day I did with my new reel, caught a few smallmouth bass with my brother. Was a ton of fun! Actually ended up meeting the guy again I met at Lakeside there.

Plus there are other fisherman that you’ll meet that go in there a lot. Like the one fisherman Ross, I think it’s Ross, it actually could be Russ. Still not sure, but the old guy is really cool and loves to talk about fishing. If he was only computer inclined, I’m sure he would make a great writer for a fishing blog. He always has something interesting to talk about, whether it’s about bass fishing, pike fishing, musky fishing, or walleye fishing.

So if you’re new to the neighborhood or just taking a trip down to fish Lake St. Clair, stop in the friendly fishing shop Lakeside for the latest fishing news. Great fisherman and bass lures in there, that’s for sure!
